Minutes of the Regular Meeting

Of the Board of Trustees

April 13, 2017   

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 a.m. by Merredith Peterson.   Some board members may be attending electronically. 

 

Trustees in attendance: Regina Skipper, Karen Lonergan, and Audrey Roman

Absent: Mark Barnes, Debra Deines, Debra Hart, and Cheryl Lennox/Head Librarian were absent.

Sue Hebel/Library Director was in attendance. 

No public present.

 

The minutes from the previous meeting were presented. Karen Lonergan made a motion to accept the minutes as read and was seconded by Regina Skipper.   Motion carried. 

 

 

SECRETARYíS REPORT:  No report   

 

PRESIDENTíS REPORT:   Merredith Peterson has been reading good holocaust books this last month. Orphanís Train, The German Girl and Ireneís Child.

  

TREASURERíS REPORT:  Karen Lonergan presented the financials for the month. Karen told the board we are using Quick Books the first time this month.  This is still being done with Thomas Hammer.   Karen Lonergan made a motion to accept the Treasurerís report and pay the bills.    Audrey Roman seconded.  Motion carried.

 

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the payments made by the District, under the signatures of the President, Treasurer, or Director, as detailed in the Financial Report presented and approved as necessary to meet the obligations of the District in timely manner.

 

     

DIRECTORíS REPORT:   Sue Hebel reported:  Governor Rauner will be at the library on April 17th to read books to kids.  There is no school that day.  Sue called the Daycare Center in Port Byron and invited them out.  Sue also contacted the school and the elementary principal will send a letter to the Kindergarten parents letting them know.

   The library received a letter from the State of Illinois saying we will receive $791.97 for our Per Capita Grant.    Sue Hebel attended Reaching Forward South and learned about hotspots.  There was a session done by several libraries that check out hotspots to patrons for three weeks.  It is very popular.  This is something Sue would like to start at the library.

  We did our first Tales and Tots yesterday.  We had 24 kids and parents.

 

 

LIBRARIANíS REPORT:   The monthly stats were handed out.  Summer Reading starts June 4.  20,000 Books Under the Sea.  Paint the Road will be June 1, 2017.  Blood Drive June 10.  June 23rd is the trip to the Art Institute which we did open up to the adults.

 

REPORTS:

 

FINANCE:  Sue Hebel handed out the Levy Confirmation that was received from Rock Island County. This will be the amount of money we will use for the next Working Budget 2017-2018.

BUILDINGS & GROUNDS:   Sue Hebel handed out a diagram of the circulation desk.   The treadmill was supposed to come on Monday morning but Sue called the company and asked them to deliver it in the afternoon.

OTHER:

At the May meeting the board will swear in members who were on the ballet. At that meeting the board will elect new officers and committee heads. 

Karen Lonergan made a motion; Audrey Roman seconded the motion to change our meeting time from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m.  Motion carried.

The next meeting will be on Thursday May 11, 2017 at 8:00 am.

A motion was made by Karen Lonergan and seconded by Regina Skipper to adjourn the meeting.   Motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 am.
